Leverhulme Extinction Studies DTP: Celebration Event

Please come and help us celebrate this extraordinary University of Leeds Extinction Doctoral Training Programme which reaches its official conclusion this year.

Over the past five years our 18 postgraduate students have undertaken truly diverse, impactful and exciting research that addresses our global extinction crisis in new ways: from the ethics of genetic de-extinction, to Indigenous food sovereignty, to the eco-poetics of deep time. Their projects overcome disciplinary boundaries to challenge the way we think about and respond to extinction.

Come and hear about what they learned, what they have to teach us, and what lies ahead for extinction studies. In addition to hearing about their research, there will be a display of objects from their travels, a display from a photography fieldtrip in the Scottish Small Isles, and performances from poets and musicians in the DTP.

With keynote addresses and responses from:

Prof Sadiah Qureshi, University of Manchester

Prof Lindsey Gillson, Leverhulme Centre for Anthropocene Biodiversity, University of York

Prof Kate Rigby, University of Cologne

The event takes place at Cloth Hall Court in the centre of Leeds from 0900-1700 and will be followed by a wine reception until 1830
