Profile
I am a first-year PhD candidate in Philosophy at the University of Leeds, funded by a School of PHRS scholarship. Before coming to Leeds, I completed my MA in Philosophy at USI (Lugano) with a semester spent at LMU (Munich). Before that, I completed my BA in Philosophy at Ca’ Foscari University (Venice) with a semester spent at the University of Geneva (Switzerland). My background studies focused on metaphysics and philosophy of physics, as well as history of philosophy and of science.
Research interests
My research project focuses on empirical incoherence, with a particular focus on cases from physics. By studying cases of empirical self-undermining in physics, I aim to assess the interplay between their structure and more general questions in epistemology and the philosophy of science (such as higher-order defeaters and external-world skepticism). My main focus so far has been on empirical incoherence in quantum mechanics, where the topic closely relates to traditional puzzles such as the measurement problem and Schrödinger’s cat scenario. I am also interested in the philosophy of perception, and in particualr on imagination, mental imagery and illusions.
