- Thesis title: Cellulose Composites: A Circular Economy for Textiles
- Supervisor: Professor Ningtao Mao, Professor Michael Ries
Profile
LITAC funded PhD researcher within the School of Design and the School of Physics and Astrophysics.
Having researched the impacts of wasted textiles during my MSc at Heriot-Watt University, I began the PhD project in October 2023 with Prof Michael Ries and Prof Ningato Mao. We aim to bring together soft matter physics and textile technology in order to create wet-spun regenerated cellulose fibres.
Research interests
- Textile Technology & Fabric Recycling
- Regenerated Fibres
- All Cellulose Composites
I aim to explore the potential of recycling cotton based cellulose composites into regenreated fibres – in order to weave back into a new textile material. This work opens up alternative routes for the recycling of cellulose based textiles into composite materials that can reduce the demand for plastics. Thus creating a cross circular economy for textiles, composites, fibres and yarns.
Qualifications
- MSc - Fashion & Textile Management - Heriot-Watt University
- BA(Hons) - Textiles - University of Edinburgh
