Profile
I am an artist-researcher working at the intersection of contemporary art and theory with a focus on feminist and queer politics in performance and image-based practices. My practice blends reading and writing with artworking, mobilising play and collective experimentation across performance, video, photography, installation and film.
Drawing on feminist philosophy, psychoanalysis and political theory, I theorise the image as encounter, thinking subjectivity and the image through the feminine. I approach the image as a plural and performative operation, where sharing and transmission potentialities designate modes of appearance that challenge identity mechanisms of recognition. Attentive to the self-based image culture, my PhD explores how art-making and art-viewing might counter binary and identitarian ways of seeing-doing-being, generating new subjectivities of co-becoming.
This PhD is supported by the Amanda Burton Scholarship.
