Souvenirs from the British Isles

Private view Wednesday 7 December 6-8pm.

Exhibition continues 12 to 16 December between 11am and 3pm.

Souvenirs from the British Isles is the culmination of an exploration into art and anthropology, specifically relating to tourist art and souvenirs.

The exhibition consists of a series of vibrant, colourful and iconic ‘souvenirs’, each representing cities across England. These are inspired by heraldic imagery, landmarks, mythology and historical and contemporary figures from the respective regions.

This exhibition is work by Louise Atkinson, a practice-led PhD student in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies. It forms part of her thesis: Souvenirs from the British Isles: Archiving, Curating, and Collecting in Contemporary Art Practice.
