Visiting Artist's Talk - Holly Pester

Holly Pester is a poet and writer based in Wivenhoe, Essex.

She has presented work at international art festivals including ‘Documenta 13’ (Kassel), ‘Festival Expandible’ (Mexico City) and ‘Fiac’ (Paris). Her work engages with experimental forms of writing, sound poetry and performance, but has also incorporated gallery installation and experimental workshops. Her collection, Go to reception and ask for Sara in red felt tip (Book Works, 2015) featured poetry and prose, positioning anecdote and gossip as forms of archival enquiry. The book was developed through a residency at the Women’s Art Library (London).

Pester’s forthcoming album of collaborative sound works and new pamphlet of lullaby-inspired poetry, Common Rest, will be released from Test Centre this autumn. The project was developed through a two-year residency at London’s Wellcome Collection. Pester is Lecturer in Poetry and Performance at University of Essex.

The venue for this talk is Lecture Theatre F (G.74), Chemistry West Block, University of Leeds. Directions to the venue can be found online here.
