Opening times: Saturday 11 August, 1pm–5pm; Closed Sunday to Monday; Tuesday 14 August to Saturday 18 August, 10am–5pm.

Produced by year nine girls at Carr Manor Community School and The Co-operative Academy of Leeds, the exhibition is the culmination of the first year of Art School for Rebel Girls, a project run by Pavilion (in partnership with the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies, University of Leeds) and supported by Soroptimist Leeds.

Expanding ideas of what art is and who makes it, after school workshops in 2018 have centred on exploring personal experiences in relation to the work and ideas of female artists. These sessions equipped the group with new image-making tools and techniques and introduced them to artists working today and throughout history.

This year’s Art School for Rebel Girls programme concludes with an intensive Summer School in the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds. The week includes workshops by artists Sarah-Joy Ford and Soofiya, alongside visits to galleries and archives.

The Art School for Rebel Girls Exhibition opens in Project Space on Saturday 11 August with a celebration event from 1pm to 3pm (speeches and awards at 2pm). All welcome. Please register your interest if you would like to attend.
