Join us for a talk with visual artist, Matt Smith.
Matt Smith has recently completed an artist residence at Holocaust Centre North. He is interested in exploring how LGBTQ+ stories of the Holocaust can be made visible.
This talk explores his work with the archive at Holocaust Centre North and provides a snap shot of the work in progress and thinking behind it.
About the speaker
Matt Smith is an artist who works with museum collections. Solo exhibitions include Losing Venus (Pitt Rivers Museum) Flux: Parian Unpacked (Fitzwilliam Museum). Who Owns History? (Hove Museum) and Queering the Museum (Birmingham Museum).
In 2010 he co-founded Unravelled Arts, curating artist interventions at National Trust properties and in 2015/16 he was artist in residence at the V&A.
He holds a PhD in Queer Craft and was Professor of Craft at Konstfack, Stockholm. His work is held at the V&A, the Walker Art Gallery, the National Museum Oslo, National Museum of Northern Ireland and the Crafts Council collection.
