Visiting Artist’s Talk – Paul Noble

For this week's Visiting Artist's Talk, we welcome Paul Noble.

Paul Noble is from Whitley Bay and attended Sunderland Poly and studied Fine Art at Humberside College of Higher Education before moving to London in 1986.

He was co-gallerist running City Racing from 1989 to 1999 and became active in environmental protests against motorway building in East London from 1989 to 1994.

Paul co-curated ‘Protest & Survive’ at The Whitechapel Art Gallery (with Matthew Higgs) in 2000. He curated ‘Demonstration demonstration’, a survey of Endre Tot’s demonstrative works, in 2000 and ‘Past the Future’ at Tate Britain in 2014. He was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2012 for his solo exhibition at Gagosian Gallery, London.

Solo shows at: Mamco (Geneva), 2001; Albright Knox, Buffalo (2003); Whitechapel , London (2004); Migros Zurich (2005); Gagosain New York (2007); Boijmans, Rotterdam (2014); and Musee des Beaux Arts, La Chaux-de-Fonds (2018).

The Visiting Artist’s Talk (VAT) series hosts talks by an exciting range of arts practitioners from around the world every Monday afternoon 2–4pm during teaching weeks.

All of our talks are compulsory for our Fine Art students but are also open to anyone else who would like to join us.
