Visiting Artist's Talk — Nicole Yip

For this week's Visiting Artist's Talk (VAT), we welcome Nicole Yip.

Nicole Yip is Chief Curator and Acting Head of Public Programmes & Research at Nottingham Contemporary. From 2016–2019 she was the Director of LUX Scotland, and previously worked at LUX London, Firstsite (Colchester) and ICA (London).

She has curated exhibitions and projects at numerous venues, including Tramway and the Gallery of Modern Art (both Glasgow), the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (Nassau), Kochi-Muziris Biennale, Centre Pompidou (Paris), and The Showroom (London).

She has been a contributor to Frieze magazine and a jury member for numerous international film festivals and arts awards, including the inaugural Glasgow International Festival Collecting Award (2018) and the annual Margaret Tait Award (2016–19).

Recent curated exhibitions include Stalking the Image (Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow, 2018–19) and Diane Simpson: Sculpture, Drawing, Prints 1976–2014 (Nottingham Contemporary, 2020).

All of our talks are compulsory for our Fine Art students but open to anyone else who would like to join us.
