Visiting Artist’s Talk – Louise O’Kelly

For this week's Visiting Artist's Talk (VAT), we welcome Louise O’Kelly.

Louise O’Kelly is an independent curator. In 2015 she founded Block Universe, London's leading international performance art festival and commissioning body, with a mission to create a platform and support structure for a new generation of interdisciplinary artists working with performance. In 2019, Block Universe began to present work internationally.

O’Kelly regularly speaks about performance issues at panel discussions, lectures and public talks, at the invitation of institutions and universities throughout the UK. She was nominated for the ICI’s Independent Vision Curatorial Award and curated the 2019 edition of the David Roberts Art Foundation’s Evening of Performances.

O’Kelly holds an MA in Contemporary Art Theory from Goldsmiths (London) and was a Vision Forum Research Member at Linkopings Universitet (SW) from 2014–16. She currently sits on the steering group for the UK-wide Live Art Sector Review being undertaken in partnership with Arts Council England.

The Visiting Artist’s Talk (VAT) series hosts talks by an exciting range of arts practitioners from around the world every Monday afternoon from 14:00 to 15:30 during teaching weeks.

All of our talks are compulsory for our Fine Art students but open to anyone else who would like to join us.
