talking textiles

An online exhibition exploring the ways in which textiles signify beyond their visual imagery to tell us about the socio-political context that influenced their creation.

Can viewing these textiles in today’s climate allow us to see beyond what we would often assume are purely decorative artworks?

The textiles displayed in this exhibition have been selected mainly from the Art Institute of Chicago collection. We have also borrowed from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
