University of Leeds Graduate (Cinema and Photography 2012), Dave Horner talks about the trials and tribulations of being a new screenwriter in 2021. From pitching to producers to writing partner prenups; Dave explores all of the highs and lows of writing, based on his experiences as an up-and-coming screenwriter and how the industry works as a whole, including being flexible with your ideas; generating ideas; working in writing rooms; meeting producers; getting an agent; pitching and more!
Dave Horner graduated from Cinema and Photography in 2012 and went straight into the television industry, working in factual and entertainment programming, for BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and more; directing talent such as Jamie Oliver; Jimmy Carr; Kathryn Ryan, amongst others. Made the transition to script writing in 2020 and currently has four scripts in development with high profile production companies. Dave most recently transitioned into the scripted world; writing various comedy drama scripts that are currently in development with various high-profile companies such as Hat Trick and Firebird Pictures.
