Dr Anja Connor-Crabb

Profile

I joined the University of Leeds in May 2023 as Lecturer in Fashion Design and Digital Fashion Innovation. I have a long-standing research interest in sustainability, with a focus on use practices and investigating the intersection between emerging digital technologies for fashion and their implications for the environment and society. Prior to joining academia, I worked as a fashion designer within a broad range of industry settings. I hold an MA in Fashion and the Environment (UAL) and a PhD in Sustainable Fashion Design (University of Brighton). I have published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at conferences both in the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Module Leader
  • Acting Programme Leader MA Fashion Enterprise and Society

Research interests

My research centres on exploring ways in which design can address issues around sustainability in fashion – relating to innovative fashion design practice, resourceful use and future fashion systems. I am interested in nuanced understandings of use practices and how these can inform design for longer-lasting material experiences; I also interrogate the role of emergent digital technologies within these contexts.
