Shuyu Lelio Yang

Profile

I am a Lecturer in Fashion Marketing and Brand Communication. I began as a fashion design student and subsequently completed my PhD and Masters degree in Fashion Marketing from the University of Manchester. I worked as a teaching associate and guest lecturer at the University of Manchester from 2019 to 2022. My PhD project explored how gendered ideology operates through male beauty influencers within the specific context of China. I have supervised numerous undergraduate and masters level student projects.

With extensive experience spanning many years in the fashion industry, I have engaged in various roles including fashion design, visual merchandising, fashion buying, and editing.

Research interests

My research explores the context of fashion but extends beyond it. My research interests encompass fashion culture, consumer ideology, consumer injustice, ethical consumption, gender and sexuality marketing, as well as influencer marketing.
