Between 2012 and 2017 I headed the design department at the Doha Film Institute in Qatar and worked on international cultural projects such as the Doha Tribeca Film Festival, TEDxSummit, and Romanian Design Week. I have also collaborated with artists and photographers on various book design projects.

Responsibilities

  • Programme Leader, Graphic and Communication Design

Research interests

My research interests are cross-disciplinary in nature and include archival research, British and international graphic design history, editorial design, self-directed forms of graphic practice, and the interrelation between graphic design and typography and social and cultural practices. My PhD research put forward a cross-disciplinary approach to investigate how visual artefacts are reflected by, and contribute to, ideology. I am currently developing a research project which applies the same set of methods to examine the writing system reforms in the nineteenth century in Eastern Europe.
