Dr. Qianqian Pan

Profile

Dr. Qianqian Pan holds an MSc in Advanced Textiles and Performance Clothing and a PhD in Colour Science. Her post-PhD career in industrial R&D led to innovations in printing inks. Subsequently, she joined the research team led by Professor Stephen Westland where she worked on numerous industry-led projects. Dr. Pan’s professional forte encompasses a broad spectrum, including colour appearance, colour psychology, colour management, colour design and the integration of artificial intelligence in these areas. Her enthusiasm lies in the application of colour research across varied domains such as art, design, psychology and medicine, fostering interdisciplinary connections and innovations. 

Research interests

  • Natural Language Processing (NLP) in Colour Design: Applying NLP to connect language and colour through semantic associations.
  • Digital Colour Testing: Developing online tools for assessing colour perception and discrimination.
