Profile

I am a Teaching Fellow in Graphic Design. Myspecialist areas of research / interest are: book design; typography; graphic design for print and digital media; and art. I am a graphic designer and Teaching Fellow in the School of Design. I teach numerous subjects in the area of graphic design and visual communication. My specialist areas of research / interest are: graphic design; art; typography; book design; book arts; James Joyce (particularly Finnegans Wake); sound arts; algorithmic / generative music. 

My work focuses mainly on book design, primarily in the field of contemporary art. I have designed books for many leading artists such as: Tauba Auerbach; Haroon Mirza; Manfred Mohr; Eddie Martinez; Alex Katz; Shaun Gladwell; John Akomfrah; Charlotte Prodger; Daphne Oram; John Wood and Paul Harrison and many others. I have also worked with international publishers such as Sternberg Press, Thames & Hudson and Anomie and many leading galleries and institutions such as Timothy Taylor, V-A-C Foundation, Walker Art Center, Bergen Kunsthall, LAXART, Green Art Gallery, Dubai, Artangel, The Modern Institute, Spike Island and TheDaphne Oram Trust. 

My artistic practice utilising sound has been exhibited and presented internationally in galleries and venues across Europe, USA and Japan. My sound art works have been published by 12k (USA), Fallt (N. Ireland) and MIT Press (USA). In 2011 I was commissioned by Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) to write and produce a nine-part series of radio documentaries entitled Composing with Process: Perspectives on Generative and Systems Music.
