Snapshot: a story of family, fashion & friends

This photographic exhibition showcases a ‘snapshot’ of the stories that four donors shared with the Yorkshire Fashion Archive to accompany the items of dress that they donated to the collection.

This contextual evidence, when seen alongside the garments, demonstrates the significance of dress in self-presentation, community, familial relationships and milestones in ordinary women’s lives during the mid 20th century.

Originally curated for the Civic, Barnsley, by Elaine Evans, Senior Teaching Fellow in Fashion Design, and Claire Watson,  Associate Professor in Fashion, the School of Design is delighted to host Snapshot in its Foyer space.
