Scholarship Research
The scholarship research group aims to develop and conduct scholarship research to enhance teaching and learning, and generate innovative pedagogical resources. It supports teaching and scholarship and interested staff to devise, develop and deliver evidence-based education practice and scholarship within their related fields.
The group acts as a platform for engagement with other scholarship interest groups such as the Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence (LITE), and the Pedagogic Research in the Arts, research centre (PRiA) to facilitate the sharing of good practice, and funding and other resources to contribute towards impact activity.
The breadth of teaching approaches and expertise in the School of Design is reflected in this group’s engagement with emerging matters of concern within the expanded field of design pedagogy research and scholarship. Group members investigate and reflect on a range of issues emerging out of developments in studio teaching, the challenges of responding to technological change, the ethics and politics of teaching and learning, and curriculum transformation.
Impact
The University of Leeds is currently undertaking a ten-year curriculum transformation project that will develop imaginative, and sustainable approaches to education, and enhance students’ abilities to acquire knowledge and skills they require to make a positive impact in the world. The scholarship research group plays a key role in the School’s contribution to the redefining of the curriculum at the University of Leeds.
