Profile

I currently work within the School of Design here at the University of Leeds. I provide student support and am often the first port of call for any students who have issues affecting their time at Leeds. I'm here to listen and understand the situation, recomend appropriate support from a wide range of professional support services on and off campus, and to look at what options students have to allow them to succeed in their academic studies. I am also the School's disability contact, meaning I am responsible for coordinating support for disabled students and will liaise with academic tutors and the Disability Services team.

Academically, I hold a BSc in Psychology from Lancaster University and an MSc in Development, Disorders, and Clinical Practice from the University of York. My academic background has given me a deep understanding of mental health, development, and wellbeing, which I draw upon in my daily work. For my Masters dissertation, I researched the experiences of neurotypical parents and siblings of young people with Down syndrome, exploring the emotional, psychological, and practical challenges they face. This research has furthered my empathy and understanding, especially when supporting students with diverse backgrounds and needs. I also hold various qualifications in counselling and life coaching which I have carried out since graduating from York in 2022.

Outside of work, I have a passion for musical theatre, with my favourite show being Come From Away. I find its story and music incredibly moving and inspiring. I also love to travel, exploring new places and cultures whenever I get the chance, with my favourite city I’ve ever visited being Vienna! When I'm not travelling, I enjoy spending quality time with loved ones. My hobbies allow me to recharge and maintain a balanced approach to both my personal life and professional responsibilities.
