Boyang Liang

Profile

I am a cross-faculty postgraduate researcher currently affiliated with the School of Languages, Cultures & Societies and the School of Sociology & Social Policy. Originally from China, I completed my undergraduate studies at Capital Normal University in Beijing, where I earned a Bachelor's degree in French Language and Literature. In 2020, I furthered my education by obtaining a Master's degree in East Asian Cultures and Societies from the University of Leeds in the UK.

After completing my master's degree, I gained practical experience by working in Beijing, China for a period of two years. During this time, I worked as an editor for multiple academic journals in the international open-access publishing house MDPI. This valuable experience not only enhanced my conceptual thinking abilities but also provided me with insight into the editorial practices and conventions of academic publishing, which greatly benefited my academic pursuits. Subsequently, I transitioned into the role of a game designer and product manager with a slot game company.

These diverse professional experiences have equipped me with a wide range of skills that are essential for pursuing my research interests in digital ethnography. Furthermore, they have laid a strong foundation for my current postgraduate research studies.

I served as a teaching assistant for the Language Centre's summer pre-session courses at the University of Leeds in 2023.

I am the teaching assistant of module SLSP 1161 'Exploring the City: Local and Global Contexts' at the School of Sociology and Social Policy in semester 2, 2024.
