This public event brings together leading figures from broadcasting, independent production and academia to discuss the future of public service media at a critical policy moment, shortly after the close of the UK government’s BBC Charter Review consultation.
The discussion will explore the evolving role of the BBC and wider public service broadcasting ecology, the regulatory and governance challenges facing the sector, and the implications for production, commissioning and investment across the UK’s nations and regions.
The event forms part of the School of Media and Communication’s Media Frontiers series and will feature a short academic framing followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A.
Confirmed speakers include Iain Bundred (Head of Policy, BBC) and Cat Lewis (CEO, Nine Lives Media), with additional contributors to be confirmed.
The session will be followed by an informal drinks reception.
