Indoor Voice – exhibition

Indoor Voice is an exhibition by Leeds based artists Caitlin Burns and Tiegan Handley, curated by Molly Newham at Mandy Apple Gallery in Scarborough.

Whilst Tiegan uses the traditional methods of quiltmaking, Caitlin using printmaking techniques such as lino and mono printing. Despite different outcomes these artists share a point of contact in their practices; both explore the complex contemporary issues of voice and identity.

The title 'Indoor Voice' refers to the way both artists are able to take socially challenging topics and express their lived experience in a reflective, and powerful manner. Resulting in artworks that emit the determination, intelligence and resilience of women and non-binary people in contemporary society.

Caitlin, Molly and Tiegan all graduated in BA Fine Art from the School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies in 2023.
