Re: The Art of the Multiple — exhibition

This exhibition in our Project Space brings together the work of the whole of the Level 3 undergraduate Fine Art group.

Re: The Art of the Multiple is a result of a three-week intensive project which invited the artists to consider what would happen if they took an aspect of their developing studio practices and multiplied it.

The responses to the brief were many and varied, ranging from sculpture, to print-making and even performance — exposing the vast array of ways the idea of the multiple might be interpreted and drawing attention to the political statement that often comes with producing an artwork that can be shared with many people.

The prefix “re” acts as a tool for exploring the idea; raising questions about what can happen if a process is done again (repetition); what if an object is taken apart and put back together to be used differently (re-purposing); what if different objects are brought together to generate new meaning (reorganisation)?

The final collection of work demonstrates the richness of creativity that can flourish when an artist allows themself the freedom to develop an idea.

There will be an evening preview of the exhibition on 7 December, open to all. Find out more.
