How do you move into a career in game audio? In this session, audio specialist Alexander Horowitz unpacks his route into working in professional game development, from initial training and entry-level roles through to taking more responsibility for the audio of large-scale projects. Alexander breaks down the elements of game sound, how it compares to film and TV, and offers some practical advice for those new to the field or looking to move from another audio discipline.

Alexander Horowitz is a game developer, audio specialist, and composer. He is currently the Audio Lead at Studio Gobo in Hove, working with Warner Bros on an unannounced AAA title. Alexander was previously Head of Audio at Andy Serkis' Imaginarium in London and has worked on well-known AAA games including Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V: Online, and Madden NFL 17. Alexander initially trained as a composer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, receiving a BAFTA New Talent nomination in 2011 and graduating in 2013. At the Glasgow School of Art, he graduated from the MDes Sound for the Moving Image programme in 2015 and the MSc Serious Games and Virtual Reality programme in 2016.
