This year the IMS Medieval Group hosted seven well-attended and varied events, from a research afternoon to a candle workshop to visiting nearby medieval sites.

The University of Leeds conference 'Rethinking the Medieval Frontier', organised by Jonathan Jarrett and held on 10 April 2018, explored medieval frontiers and borders and was a great success.

Two IMS PG Researchers and one IMS alumna presented a series of talks at Siege Weekend, held at Pontefract Castle on 28 May 2018, and another IMS PG Researcher designed and organised the event.

Multiple members of the IMS participated in and presented at the Fifty-Third International Congress on Medieval Studies in Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, which ran from 10-13 May 2018.

Two IMS alumni have received 2018 Olivia Remie Constable Awards, which consist of a $1,500 grant each for research and travel, and reflect the quality of their proposed research.
