Internship Applications Available for IMS Postgraduate Students

 

Multiple paid internship opportunities at the University of Leeds are available for any registered IMS MA or PGR student. The application deadline is 5 October 2018.

IMB and IMS Internships

A series of internships offered by the International Medieval Bibliography (IMB) and Institute for Medieval Studies (IMS) are available for registered IMS MA or PhD students (UK, EU, or International). These internships will run from October 2018 until July 2019. Successful applicants will not be permitted to hold more than one IMS or IMB internship concurrently. The deadline for all of the following internships is 17:00 on 5 October 2018.  

IMS Internships

The IMS internships are part-time, fixed term positions, with a maximum of 250 hours. Interns will be paid £8.75 per hour, and the work is expected to be undertaken for an average of 7.5 hours per week over 33 weeks. All interns will be expected to work with other members of the IMS internship team. 

 

  • IMS External Communications Internship: Requires undertaking practical work experience in updating the Institute's website in conjunction with the Marketing team, with a particular remit for Medieval Studies Online
  • IMS Promotions and Communications Internship: Tasks include promoting internal events of the Institute to the public and disseminating incoming communication to faculty and students of the IMS.
  • IMS Lectures and IMC Support Internship: Expected to work within the team that organises the International Medieval Congress (IMC); tasks include assisting with the practical running of the IMS Lecture series and promoting the activities of the Institute.

 

IMB Internships

The IMB internships are part-time, fixed term positions, with a maximum of 250 hours. Interns will be paid £8.75 per hour.

 

  • Editorial Assistants: Requires identifying and cataloguing articles on all aspects of Medieval Studies in journals received by the Brotherton Library or in electronic journals. Two positions are available, one for Brotherton Library Journals and another for Online Journals. 
  • IMB Editorial Assistant: Monograph Records: Tasks include identifying and cataloguing books (monographs) on all aspects of Medieval Studies acquired by the Brotherton Library. 
  • IMB Production Secretary: The main duties of this post include inputting data of contributors' material, creating basic article records, and preliminary editing of selected contributors' files.

An applicant may apply for more than one role, but the applicant should submit one form, and list the roles in order of preference.
