What made you want to apply to your MA course and to Leeds?
I did a BSc in Communication and Media in Rotterdam, with a semester abroad in Copenhagen. During my bachelor’s degree I realised that film and photography were the subjects I was most interested in. I was intrigued by photography and film because they are both very broad creative areas. It’s really great to see the wide range of projects people came up with within this one area of study.
What aspects of studying at the University of Leeds did you enjoy the most?
I really enjoyed that the course combines both practical and theoretical skills. My first degree was entirely theoretical, so I really enjoyed getting to do practical projects. There is also a lot of space on this course to do what you are interested in. So if there’s any topic within film or photography you want to explore on your own, this course provides the perfect opportunity.
What would you say about Leeds as a city?
Leeds as a city is pretty much the perfect size. It has everything you need, but you can still everywhere by foot. There are also so many beautiful landscapes surrounding Leeds. It’s been great exploring the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales.
How do you think the skills and knowledge you’ve developed at Leeds will help with your future plans?
I’m currently working in digital marketing and I’m considering doing a PhD in the future. I definitely feel like this degree broadened my academic knowledge in preparation for that.
