What made you want to apply to your MA course and to Leeds?
I am from Nigeria, and have been working with my state government for over 13 years, primarily in the education sector.
However, I was hoping to make a career change in order to become involved in development and politics, hence my choice of International Communication. I chose the University of Leeds because it is one of the top universities in UK and the world, and has one of the best Communication programme.
What is it that makes you passionate about your area of study?
I am passionate about my course because it helps me better understand the world. It enables me to understand how politics and communication interact to shape the world we live in and how nations relate with each other, and how these relations can be used to tackle developmental issues. As a student from a developing country, I see the immense potential of using communication to enhance development.
What aspects of the course did you enjoy the most?
I enjoyed all aspects of the course. One module I particularly enjoyed was Communication and Development, in which we had to come up with communication strategies to tackle developmental issues.
I also enjoyed making use of the excellent and up-to-date learning facilities and being taught by highly qualified and experienced lecturers, who are easy to interact with, and ready to assist.
