An exhibition of works by fine art alumna, the culmination of a residency at Leeds Print Workshop.
Hannah Prince graduated in 2025 from the University of Leeds with a BA in Fine Art with History of Art, and was awarded the Graduate Award in Printmaking. This opportunity enabled her to spend two months as Artist in Residence at Leeds Print Workshop.
Hannah’s practice sits within expanded photography, expressed through printmaking. Central to her work is the idea of the body as land, and land as body. Her recent prints use direct exposures of hair to explore the tension between presence and trace – material that is both part of and separate from the body. She investigates this as an organic form, its connection to the earth, and echoes this in storytelling and folklore. Works such as A Headache in Limerick reference myths surrounding swallows collecting hair for their nests, linking the body to memory, abjection, and preservation.
During the residency, Hannah produced a new body of work for her upcoming exhibition LIGHT WRITING at Convention House, an East Street Arts space. She used her time at the workshop to expand her technical skills, experimenting with linocut, drypoint, letterpress, copper-sulphate etching, and further developing her interest in photo etching. The environment of the workshop provided an energising transition into life as an emerging artist beyond university.
Hannah extends her thanks to the Leeds Print Workshop team and the University of Leeds for this opportunity and invites visitors to attend the exhibition to see the work created during her residency.
