She studied library and information science at the University of Applied Science in Potsdam and art history at the University of the Arts, London. She has been working as a professional archivist and librarian for over 20 years, predominately in the field of modern and contemporary art.

Since 2017 she has been managing the library of the Documenta Archive. Prior to that, she worked as archivist at Victoria Miro (London /Venice), librarian at Heni Publishing (London), and as a librarian at Centre Paul Klee (Bern), INIVA (London) and the Courtauld Institute of Art (London).

In 2019 she talked about the Documenta Archive at the Ateneo Art Gallery in Manila. Ziegler also curated the exhibition Theatre of the Spectacle: Photographs by Bernd Schlake, at the Documenta Archiv (2017) and works closely with artists on book projects, exhibitions and their archives.
