Visiting Artist’s Talk – Nocturne

For this week's Visiting Artist's Talk (VAT), we welcome Nocturne.

Nocturne is a Leeds based study group organising crits and events designed to provide artists at any stage of their career with an open, supportive forum to discuss work and ideas. It was established in 2016 by Fine Art undergraduates at the University of Leeds.

Nocturne was formed out of a desire to increase dialogue between institutions, artists and students in Leeds. The platform has acted as a way to openly test the development of new work and solve problems together in a trusting space, with a variety of artists working in the city.

Nocturne has previously supported artists through bi-weekly crit sessions as well as providing a network for support to undergraduates since 2016. Recent events include: the Nocturne Pot Luck Dinner, supported by the Henry Moore Institute, Leeds Arts University, Leeds Beckett University and University of Leeds (2018); and En Plein Air (2017).

The Visiting Artist’s Talk (VAT) series hosts talks by an exciting range of arts practitioners from around the world every Monday afternoon from 14:00 to 15:30 during teaching weeks.

All of our talks are compulsory for our Fine Art students but open to anyone else who would like to join us.
