Part of the Furniture: Curators' Talk

Go behind the scenes of the ‘Part of the Furniture’ exhibition, with curators Mark Westgarth, Rachel Eckersley and Rhiannon Lawrence-Francis.

This curators’ talk is an opportunity to hear a discussion about the development and staging of Part of the Furniture: The Library of John Bedford, currently running at The Treasures of the Brotherton Gallery, University of Leeds.

You will also be able to hear about John Bedford’s extraordinary library and how it was gifted to the University of Leeds.

You are invited to arrive at 1.00pm to see the layout and themes of the exhibition ahead of the talk, which begins at 1.15pm.

A Q&A with the curators follows the talk at 1.45pm, where you can ask questions about the exhibition and the items on display. Booking essential.

About the exhibition

Part of the Furniture: The Library of John Bedford charts the evolution of furniture design over the centuries, through books from the world-leading library of antiques dealer John Bedford. It is open until 21 December 2024 at Treasures of the Brotherton, University of Leeds.

The exhibition is curated by Professor Mark Westgarth (School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies), alongside Dr Rachel Eckersley and Rhiannon Lawrence-Francis (both from Special Collections, University of Leeds).
