Visiting Artist’s Talk – Shilun Ding

For this week's Visiting Artist's Talk we welcome Shilun Ding, a young painter with a burgeoning commercial career.

Shilun Ding is a Chinese artist who lives and works between London and Guangzhou. Shilun harnesses his heritage, his experience of current events and a global history of art to create large and detailed pictorial works depicting the absurdity of daily life. His unique mix of the mythological, the historical and the everyday conjure imaginary worlds. 

Recent and upcoming solo exhibitions have been staged at Galerie Maria Bernheim (Zürich, 2022), Zabludowicz Collection (London, 2023) and Bernheim Gallery (London, 2024). He has featured in recent and upcoming group shows at Guangdong Museum (Guangzhou, 2023) and K11 Art (Shanghai, 2024). Shilun graduated from the Royal College of Art in London, in 2022.

About the Visiting Artists’ Talks series

The Visiting Artist’s Talk (VAT) series hosts talks by an exciting range of arts practitioners from around the world every Monday afternoon from 2 to 4pm during teaching weeks.

All of our talks are compulsory for our Fine Art students but are also open to anyone else who would like to join us.
