Teaching Painting - Fully Awake

Artist Jo McGonigal is exhibiting her work in Edinburgh this summer, alongside MA Fine Art student Lucy Crouch and her former fine art lecturer Catherine Ferguson.

Fully Awake is a cycle of exhibitions which embraces an inter-generational approach to celebrating the practice and teaching of painting.

The show, taking place at Edinburgh College of Art during this year’s Edinburgh Art Festival, is curated by Ian Hartshorne and Sean Kaye for the organisation Teaching Painting.

13 artists, each currently teaching at one of the UK’s art academies, were invited to submit a piece of work to be included the exhibition. In addition to submitting a piece of work, each artist was asked to invite two ‘guests’ to submit work for the exhibition: one an artist that they have been taught by, the other an artist that they have taught.
