Bayesianism and Intellectual Humility

Description

Description:
'What is the relation between intellectual humility and Bayesian epistemology? I defend two key theses:

a) intellectually humble agents respond to their possible limitations, and

b) Bayesian epistemology can be modified to model agents who take into account their possible limitations.

To fill this out, I will argue that adequately taking into account one’s possible limitations requires that every proposition can be doubted. The thesis that every proposition can be doubted is incompatible with Bayesianism. So I will argue that ideal agents are not Bayesian agents, and that Bayesianism must be modified to account for ideal agents
