Description
The ‘Talking About Things’ project is based at the University of Leeds in partnership with Community Links.
The project involves using the arts to explore and express the value of 'things' or 'objects' for people with an early stage dementia diagnosis.
Talking about 'things' allows life experiences to be shared and for conversations to be started. Recording these objects through writing, drawing or photography helps us remember and value these objects and stories that otherwise may be lost in the future.
There are two main parts to the project.
Part 1 - Working alongside people with dementia to capture their stories and work with them to create images and poems related to their objects. This work will then be exhibited in their community spaces and elsewhere.
Part 2 - The development of a 'Talking about Things' Journal for use both in support hubs centres and at home. The journal will be a 32 page 'interactive' booklet that provides prompts and space to write about/draw objects that matter.
