Profile

I am a Research Fellow in the Colour Group within the School of Design at the University of Leeds. I received my PhD from the University of Leeds as part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie-funded ApPEARS project, where my research focused on skin-tone reproduction in 3D printing and colour appearance.

Before joining the University of Leeds, I studied at Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, where I received my Bachelor's degree in Printing Engineering and Master's degree in Image Science and Engineering. I also worked as a Research Assistant in the Colour Engineering Lab at Zhejiang University, China.

Following my PhD, I worked as a Colour and Eye-Tracking Research Technician in the School of Design, where I contributed to industrial projects while also managing the Colour and Eye-Tracking Lab. I subsequently moved into my current role as a Research Fellow in Colour Technology.

I am a member of the Colour Group (GB) and contribute to the International Commission on Illumination (CIE), including CIE TC 8-17. I also serve as a Reporter for the CIE DR 1-60 reportership.

Research interests

My research interests lie in colour science and colour reproduction, with a focus on understanding, measuring and modelling colour appearance and developing methods for accurate colour reproduction across different imaging, printing and display systems.

My current research explores colour appearance and colour reproduction in emerging display and imaging technologies, particularly high-dynamic-range (HDR) and wide-colour-gamut (WCG) systems. I am interested in colour management and gamut mapping, and in developing computational methods that account for differences in colour gamut, luminance and viewing conditions.

I also have a particular interest in skin-tone measurement and reproduction, building on my doctoral research on skin-tone reproduction in 3D colour printing. My work combines psychophysical experiments, colour measurement and computational modelling to investigate colour perception and improve colour reproduction.

More broadly, I am interested in applying colour science to digital imaging, display technologies and other emerging colour reproduction technologies.
