What role do mistakes play in shaping design?
This exhibition challenges conventions by exploring the concept of "mistakes" in fashion design. The term “mistake” is often defined as “an act or judgment that is inaccurate or wrong.” But what if mistakes became the foundation for innovation?
Second-year Fashion Design students, inspired by garments from the Yorkshire Fashion Archive, embarked on a creative journey to disrupt traditional patterns. Their designs reimagine the ordinary by flipping garments upside down, misaligning patterns, rethinking proportions, and more. These intentional errors challenge norms, resulting in unique, bold, and visionary pieces that redefine the boundaries of fashion.
