Matt Foster and Hope Yoemans shortlisted for the BJTC Student Journalism Awards 2019

The Broadcast Journalism Training Council is the UK’s industry-backed training body for online and broadcast journalism.

Matt Foster has been nominated in the Best TV Sports Journalism category for The Beautiful Game? Referee Abuse in Football. He graduated with a degree in journalism in July and now works as a Freelance Sports Journalist.

In the Best Social Short category, Hope Yoemans was nominated category for Bouncers. She graduated with a degree in journalism in July and now works as an Output Producer at Sky News.

BJTC Chief Executive Jon Godel said the striking professionalism of the submissions made it a tough job for judges to narrow down the more than 250 entries received from among the 50+ courses accredited by the BJTC:

“The quality of work produced by the entrants reflects the energy and enthusiasm that goes into developing firstrate journalists in such a rapidly changing industry. It’s exciting that so many talented journalists, trained to the BJTC’s high professional standards, are joining newspaper and broadcast newsrooms up and down the UK.”

The awards ceremony will take place on 12 November at Sky HQ in London. Good luck to everyone on the shortlist!
