Michael Schofield appointed Teaching Fellow in Film, Photography and Media

He holds a practice-led PhD in photography from the University of Leeds and has taught film, photography and visual communication at York St John University, Leeds Arts University and Sheffield Hallam

His interdisciplinary lens-based research explores time, memory and mediation of the changing urban environment, using both still and moving images, field recording and the practice of rephotography. His research interests also include the ontology of digital media, media archaeology and hauntology, experimental documentary and essay film, alongside immersive projection and sound design.

Michael has a chapter on rephotography in forthcoming book Narrating the City (Intellect), and is currently developing his thesis on the hauntology of photography as a monograph. He works as a filmmaker and exhibiting artist under the alias Michael C Coldwell.
