- Project description:
To enable chronic wounds to heal faster and to enable personalised wound care, we need to be able to detect changes in bacterial activity, pH and other indicators and then react by providing an automatic response within the dressing to reduce the conditions that lead to the wound never healing – effectively, we would be integrating diagnostic and therapeutic functions in the dressing, so wound healing is promoted by detecting and responding to dynamic changes within the wound site. We would like to design and build new wound dressing components as a ‘proof-of-concept’ studies that demonstrate that this multi-functional behaviour is possible, based on recent results from our lab. This involves collaboration with Leeds NHS BT and industry.
