Description
ORCIT – or Online Resources for Conference Interpreter Training – is an European Commission-funded project producing interactive pedagogical tools and resources for trainers and students of conference interpreting. It builds on the success of the UK government-funded National Network for Interpreting, bringing in partners from across the EU.
Impact
ORCIT has provided open-access interactive pedagogical tools and resources for professional interpreting trainers and students across Europe and beyond. The website has been regularly visited by tens of thousands of users.
Survey results show that 88.68% users found the resources ‘useful’ for practising professional interpreting skills; 80% of students stated that the resources were relevant to their curriculum; 60.27% stated that they used the resources outside the class to learn new skills, 61.64% for skills consolidation, 43.84% for revision, and 15.07% for group practice outside class time.
