Journalism graduates nominated for 2024 RTS Yorkshire Student Awards

School of Media and Communication graduates Taylor James and Evie Samman have been shortlisted in the Journalism category, making up two out of the three nominations.

Nominations for the Royal Television Society Yorkshire Student Awards 2024 were announced with two of three Journalism nominations going to recent graduates Taylor James and Evie Samman.

Taylor’s submission, The Pressures of Perfection, covers the paradoxical nature of the world of modelling with a focus on male models and the pressures they are facing in the industry. Speaking to the audience, Taylor states, “To work as a model is to accept you are a product as well as a person”.

Evie’s report, Women Who Weightlift: Raising the Bar for Gender Equality, follows Evie interviewing women who are trailblazers in women’s weightlifting and also highlights the benefits of strength training at any age.

The Awards Ceremony will take place on 6 March 2024.
