Celebrating its 12th year, the FUAM Graduate Art Prize exhibition showcases the artistic talent of students completing BA studies in Art and Design and Fine Art at the University of Leeds in 2024.
This year’s finalists are:
- Tia Brown (BA Art & Design)
- Mathilda Doubleday (BA Fine Art)
- Ella Georgiou (BA Fine Art)
- Saba Siddiqui (BA Art & Design)
The artworks featured in this exhibition have been selected from the artists’ final degree shows by an expert panel of judges. The 2024 judges are Georgia Taylor Aguilar (Curator, Professional Development at ACAVA — Association for Cultural Advancement through Visual Arts), Chris Warrington (Director of Student Experience & Support, University of Leeds) and Sandra Whyles (Director of Chapeltown Arts).
The four selected artists work in media ranging from sculpture and printmaking to sound and digital design. Though diverse, their work shares a strong commitment to artistic innovation through the exploration of materials, processes or narratives. A common thematic thread is the exploration of alternative ways of thinking and living, with a view to bringing about positive change in our society.
The judges will return to choose the overall winner of the FUAM Graduate Art Prize 2024. Visitors are encouraged to vote for their favourite artist for the People’s Choice Award, either online or at the Gallery. Both prize-winners will be announced at a public event on Thursday 3 October.
See The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery website for further information including opening times.
