Profile
I am a Lecturer in Digital Media at the University of Leeds. In 2022, I completed a PhD in the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Prior to that, I completed an MSc in Communication and Information at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, Brazil). Before coming to Leeds, I worked as a Lecturer in Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Sussex, having also worked as an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Media, Communication, and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London, as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at LSE Sociology, and supervised MSc Dissertations in the Department of Digital Humanities at King’s College London.
Research interests
My research interests include technology and society, internet studies, digital cultures, critical approaches to social media and everyday life, and qualitative methods. I’m currently interested in the platformisation of states of being such as moods and ‘vibes’. I’m also working on my first manuscript.
My doctoral research aimed to understand how people experience liveness – the sense of immediate connection through media – in their everyday practices with digital technologies of communication and, more specifically, with mainstream social media platforms.
