Developing Research Ethics for Autoethnographic Research - Workshop

The AHC Faculty Ethics Committee are currently exploring research ethics for autoethnographic research with the view of devising appropriate guidelines and support.

We are interested in hearing from staff and PGRs who use autoethnography in their research or teaching and invite all interested to a workshop to explore the issues and share approaches.

We are especially interested in identifying approaches to decision-making in terms of a researchers own experience (the ethics of self-revelation) and consent (when others are described in autoethnography).

In the workshop we will:

  • Draw out the principles of autoethnographic research
  • Explore the ethical principles that guide your autoethnographic research
  • Reflect on your previous experience of going through the ethical review process
  • Identify key issues in translating autoethnographic research into the ethical review process
  • Log possible ways in which the ethical review guidelines related to autoethnography could be enhanced.

Register your interest with Erin Pickles (LAHRI@leeds.ac.uk)

We also welcome conversations with those who are unable to come to either of the workshops dates but would like to discuss the issues.

Please note that there is an alternative date (15/03/21 – 14:00-15:30) if you cannot attend this one.
