What is it that makes you passionate about your area of study?
I like designing things that can help others, especially when I see my design could solve a problem.
What is your educational background and why did you choose to study your course?
I studied Visual Communication Design at Hong Kong Design Institute, furthered my study at Birmingham City University and graduated with a first-class degree. As a BA Graphic Communication Design graduate, I found my passion for design has increased gradually and this has driven me to discover more comprehensive skills in the area of design which led me to apply this design course.
What motivated you to pursue study at postgraduate level?
I think design is one of the most attractive ways to communicate with others and solve problems. I wanted to enhance my skills in the area of design, therefore, I decided I wanted to undertake postgraduate study.
What aspects of the course did you enjoy the most?
I enjoyed the construction of curriculum and also the support of the supervisor. Throughout the course, I explored design in a wide range and my supervisor would guide me in my specialised topics.
What do you plan to do once you’ve finished your course, and how do you think the skills and knowledge you’ve developed at Leeds will help with these plans?
I plan to engage in the design industry and be a graphic designer. Leeds helped me practice working in both a team and individually; I think this experience can help me build strong communication skills which will help me in my future work and working within the team.
Is there anything else you would like to share about your time at Leeds and on the course?
For the first semester of this course, I spent lots of time working with classmates on various design topics; exchanging many design concepts with different classmates. This was a really great way to elevate my design thinking.
