Profile
I joined the University of Leeds as Lecturer in EAP in August 2023. My current responsibilities include teaching pre-sessional modules for STEM and in-sessional modules for biological sciences.
Prior to joining the university, I have taught a wide range of linguistics and English modules in the US (2011-2014), Hong Kong (2015-2022), and in the UK (Spring semester in 2023). In my previous positions, I have researched on linguistics and digital humanities in the Hong Kong context, with specific interests in both English and Cantonese.
I am available to taking on the responsibility of supervising postgraduate research students, especially for project involving corpus-based or digital studies of language.
Research interests
My research interests include corpus linguistics, experimental linguistics and digital humanities. In the context of my in-sessional provision, I have been developing research on scientific writing under a data-driven learning (DDL) framework. Specifically, I am working on a corpus study on rhetorical organization of research articles in sciences.
